my mom loves this photo. i found it in an old box and showed it to her the other day. she was touched. she did note that nowadays, it's my brother who possesses such overprotective tendencies. we're very different, but somehow we manage to remain close.

yes, i asked my dad for 100 toys. and no, i didn't get that exact number. i didn't even realize i called him by his first name when i was younger. i found this with my mom's letter telling my dad how much i missed him.

during our monthly general house cleaning, i found a box containing letters that my mom wrote and sent to my dad. they provided such a fascinating insight into their earlier life, and perhaps a well-documented indication of where their relationship was headed. some letters were confrontational but never angry, while most were full of hope and love. and for a brief moment, i felt like a child again. it felt great.
